Crews Battle 2 House Fires In The Colony
THE COLONY (CBSDFW.COM) - Emergency crews in The Colony battled back-to-back house fires early Thursday morning. Firefighters from a number of nearby cities assisted in battling back the flames.
The first blaze was reported just after 1:00 a.m. in the 4100 block of Ballard Trail, on the city's far east side. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames shooting through a two-story home. Two people were injured -- a homeowner suffered a burn to his arm and a piece of ceiling fell on one of the firefighters -- but neither needed to go to the hospital.
While crews were busy finishing up with that fire, another one erupted at a home only a few miles away, in the 4600 block of Lake Park Drive. Once again, heavy flames were showing as units first arrived on the scene. A firefighter from Carrollton was hurt during this second incident and taken to Presbyterian Hospital of Plano. His condition is not known.
The causes of both fires are still under investigation but, according to officials, the two incidents are not related.
