Fire Under Control At Waxahachie Recycling Plant, Air Quality Not Harmful

UPDATE: Flames Out, Smoke Lingering After Waxahachie Plant Fire

WAXAHACHIE, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - A fire that broke out at a recycling plant in Waxahachie early Wednesday morning is now under control, officials said.

Firefighters responded to the Oak Cliff Metals plant along I-35E and Butcher Road at around 4 a.m.

There were no reports of injuries as the fire roared for hours. Heavy smoke could be seen moving onto I-35E but there were no reports of major traffic delays.

The fire has also caused Life Middle School and Life High School in Waxahachie to cancel classes for Wednesday.

City officials said the air quality in that area was tested as a precaution and that there were no harmful levels detected.

A cause of the fire has not been determined.
