Crash Leaves Semi Dangling Off Highway, Road Closed

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The accident had westbound Interstate-30 in Dallas closed for hours also sent half a dozen people to the hospital.

The crash near the Trinity River also had traffic backed up on Interstate-35E and Interstate-45.

In all, six men were taken to the hospital after a furniture truck collided with a United States Postal Service truck head on. At least one other vehicle was also involved in the wreck.

The furniture truck was sent crashing through a guardrail and the cab of the semi was left dangling off the edge of an elevated portion of the highway.

It took more than four hours for crews to get the 18-wheeler back on the roadway and then finally tow it away. A hazardous material team also had to clean up fuel that spilled on the interstate.

It's unclear what exactly caused the wreck but both of the trucks involved were high-profile vehicles and strong northwest winds Thursday morning had gusts up to 45 miles per hour.
