OXNARD (105.3 The Fan) - Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott says because he "gets to run behind the best offensive line in America" he therefore "has one of the easiest jobs in America."
You are only a little bit cynical if you are a fan of "America's Team" wishing the budding rookie star would actually, you know, get to work.
Elliott practiced for the first time in two weeks on Tuesday but only on a very limited basis. The first-round standout expects to advance to team drills at some point next week after the Cowboys have closed camp in Oxnard, played the second preseason game against the Dolphins in Arlington on Friday, and have moved into their new headquarters at The Star in Frisco.
So when do you get to see Zeke's pro debut? In the traditional "dress rehearsal" at Seattle on Aug. 25.
"I don't feel behind at all," said Elliott, sidelined for what the team says our precautionary reasons due to a tight hamstring. "I just have to knock a little rust off and finally get back to work."
Maybe it'll eventually come easy for Zeke. But first, yes, he will need to get to work.
