Cowboys Waive RB Tashard Choice

IRVING (The Sports Network) – The Dallas Cowboys waived running back Tashard Choice on Saturday, more than 24 hours prior to a key NFC East contest in Philadelphia on Sunday night.

The 26-year-old has been bothered by shoulder and hamstring injuries this season, and gained just 75 yards on 28 carries in six games. He was limited to eight yards on two attempts in last Sunday's 34-7 win over St. Louis.

Choice, the Cowboys' fourth-round pick in the 2008 draft out of Georgia Tech, departs with 1,139 yards and eight touchdown on 250 rushes, adding 497 yards receiving on 64 catches.

The Cowboys are apparently going with DeMarco Murray, who exploded for a franchise-record 253 yards last week, and undrafted rookie Phillip Tanner. Felix Jones is still sidelined with a high ankle sprain.

Dallas filled the roster spot by activating linebacker Bruce Carter from the non-football injury list.

Carter, a second-round pick in the most recent draft from North Carolina, is expected to make his pro debut when the 3-3 Cowboys face the 2-4 Eagles.
