Cowboys Start Season At No. 14 In CBS Sports Power Rankings
IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) -- They're not Super Bowl favorites, but they're not bottom feeders either.
In CBSSports.com's initial Power Rankings, the Dallas Cowboys open the season at No. 14, four spots behind division-foe New York.

It's time to start picking Tony Romo apart. After all, isn't that what most do when the Cowboys are mentioned, however misguided that might be?
Fair or not, Romo receives the bulk of the blame for the team's failures to make the playoffs in the past three seasons. But it's Giants' head coach Tom Coughlin that elevates New York above Dallas, according to the rankings.
They get a great first test at Dallas, and let's not forget they aren't too removed from being a champion. Tom Coughlin will get this team back in the playoff mix again.
The Cowboys sit above both the Washington Redskins (16) and Philadelphia Eagles (25) in the rankings, as both teams face huge questions heading into the season.
Redskins QB Robert Griffin III underwent surgery to repair two ligaments in his knee, but head coach Mike Shanahan says he will play.
OK, so Robert Griffin III will play. Now comes the important part: Finding out if he's the same guy.
The Eagles are under the direction of first time NFL coach Chip Kelly, who is widely considered to be an innovator on offense.
The offense will be loads of fun. But I think the defense will struggle in a big way. Get ready for a lot of shootouts.
The Peyton Manning-led Denver Broncos top the list, with San Francisco and Atlanta filling out the top 3.
