Cowboys Romo's 'Good News' - No Surgery

IRVING (The Fan) - Cowboys star Tony Romo on Monday received what a source close to the situation declared as "good news'': The QB won't have to undergo surgery on his fractured left clavicle, with the club reiterating to me its position from Sunday night after the 20-10 win at Philadelphia: They hope he misses no more than eight weeks while healing.

The 2-0 Cowboys therefore have a potential target date of  Nov. 22 (at Miami) and in the meantime say they'll stick with Brandon Weeden as their starter, examine ideas beyond just practice-squadders Kellen Moore and Jameill Showers behind him, and hope for eventually roster reinforcements with the coming eligibility/health of standouts Dez Bryant, Greg Hardy, Rolando McClain, Ron Leary and Randy Gregory.
