Cowboys Release Cornerback Patmon, Hope Mo's OK

IRVING (105.3 The Fan) - Cornerback Mo Claiborne (hamstring) didn't practice Tuesday and cornerback Tyler Patmon was released, leaving Dallas temporarily thin at the position with a move to come.

End DeMarcus Lawrence (chest) did participate in practice today, while linebacker Rolando McClain (concussion) didn't as the 4-9 Cowboys prepare to host the Jets on Saturday night.

Quarterback Tony Romo (collarbone) remains on the roster and is at Valley Ranch today but also did not practice.

The Claiborne move is precautionary. The Patmon transaction in part means Dallas has faith in Claiborne's health and in Deji Olatoye's advancement (and possibly in practice-squad corner Terrance Mitchell's work, too).

Maybe the Patmon dismissal really is just about his "lack of physicality'' but frankly, he's 5-10 and 187 … compared to defensive back Corey White, released a few weeks ago after competing with Patmon and White is 6-1, 205 … So we're not quite sure what Dallas was expecting from the smallish player here.

It's worth nothing that Olatoye is 6-1, 194 and will surely be asked to be "physical' when he plays.
