Cowboys QB Tony Romo Ties The Knot
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Single no more: Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is officially a married man.
Romo, 31, wed former pageant queen and CW 33 sports reporter Candice Crawford in an elegant ceremony in Dallas' Lee Park.
Crawford is the sister of "Gossip Girl" actor Chance Crawford. The couple got engaged last December on the bride's 24th birthday.
The guest list was a virtual roster of Dallas Cowboys past and present – current wide receiver Miles Austin; former quarterbacks Troy Aikman and Roger Staubach; and former head coach Wade Phillips were all in attendance.
"I'm happy for them," Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant said as he arrived for his teammate's big day.
Tight end Jason Witten and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones were also in attendance.
Yet, long before guests arrived, crews toiled in the heat, making sure every last detail was in place. It was a momentous preparation for an event that not everyone realized was set for today.
"What's going on here?" Asked a passerby after seeing the construction of tents. "There are weddings here every weekend – but not like this."
"It's taken a lot of people to put this together," visitor Anjali Satyu said. "I'm trying to figure out how I can crash the wedding."
Inside the spacious and chilled area where the couple wed, crews draped spreads of gorgeous Amarillo flowers and honeysuckle garland. The Romo/Crawford wedding was carefully and artfully crafted by event planner Todd Fiscus.
"Both are nice people and they're really fun. It's got a lot of joy in it and a lot of quirky little things," Fiscus said.
A reported 600 people were in attendance and catering company Food Glorious Food served a variety of meaty dishes like short ribs. A pizza bar was also set up during the reception to satisfy the guests.
Fiscus said the wedding was a direct reflection of the couple's taste and personalities.
"Tony picked out every song and what the keynote things are. And the end of the ceremony, we have a lot of special effects not usually included in weddings," Fiscus said. A lot of fun things at the departure –great vintage Cadillac's for departure – things that aren't your usual white Rolls Royce's."
