FRISCO (CBSDFW.COM) — Just in time for the beginning of the new season the Dallas Cowboys spent their first full day at their new state-of-the-art headquarters Sunday.
The team had its first practice at The Star in Frisco.
As construction continues all around it, the Cowboys cut the ribbon on the centerpiece of Frisco's so-called five-billion-dollar mile of development.
Tight end Jason Witten couldn't help be impressed by his first look inside as he got his bearings.
"Once you hit the practice field it's the same old stuff. You know go back to getting your winning edge, but you come in, just where's my locker, where do I park, you know how do I get in here, what exit do you get off of," Witten said.
Beyond the locker room, a hydrotherapy pool is just one of the technological advances designed to give the team an edge.
The massive weight room gives players quick access to the outdoor practice fields.
The executive offices are already up and running upstairs.
"You can see everything actually come to life, but the last 10 days have been... Really we've made tremendous progress, actually the last 24 hours," Cowboys Executive Vice President Charlotte Jones Anderson said.
Throughout The Star, a hall of fame atmosphere proudly shows off the greatest moments in Cowboys history.
Now, as the Frisco complex represents the future, players are making themselves comfortable close by.
"I just moved to Prosper, so I'm like right down the street, so yeah this is going to be home for me," Cowboys running back Lance Dunbar said.
"I'm sure people will get invested here and be involved in this community. You know this is a growing community. I think it's a place that a lot of people already call home," Witten added.
The team said they have plans to offer public tours at some point in the near future.
