DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - Rookie contracts are easier than ever with the slotting process, but it's still good news when the inevitable is done.
According to sources, the Cowboys 1st round pick Ezekiel Elliott inked his deal with the team Wednesday afternoon for 4-years at an estimated value of $24.9 Million.
The deal for the former Ohio State running back also included a $16.3 million signing bonus.
Elliott's picks was the highest Dallas has drafted a running back since taking Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett second overall in 1977. All-time NFL rushing leader Emmitt Smith went 17th to the Cowboys in 1990.
"We just felt at the end of the day Ezekiel Elliott was the type of player we wanted to bring to our football team. We feel his impact is going to be significant," said Cowboys coach Jason Garrett. "We love him as a guy, we love him as a player."
Also doing their 4-yr deals with the Cowboys are 6th-round rookies CB Anthony Brown, DB Kavon Frazier and RB Darius Jackson.
Elliott's deal comes with a fifth-year team option. And the rest of the Cowboys rookies will be signed shortly, too. Because it's slotted and inevitable - but still good news
