Cowboys Have Faith In 3 Running Backs

OXNARD, Calif. (105.3 TheFan) - The Cowboys truly do believe they have their three 2015 running backs on the roster. But it's also true that on Monday they didn't have any of them on the practice field.

The latest injury victim: likely starter Joseph Randle, who watched the workout without full knowledge of what was ailing him.

"That's why we're going to go in here (to the trainers room) and figure out what we've got to do to get it back right," Randle told me.

Randle, it was later determined, likely has a slight oblique strain. He is unlikely to play in Thursday's preseason opener at San Diego, A status he shares with fellow starters Tony Romo and Dez Bryant, who also did not practice Monday.

All of this leaves Dallas thin at running back, with Lance Dunbar (ankle) and Darren McFadden (hamstring) also temporarily unavailable. Likely to carry the load on Thursday: Street free-agent running backs Gus Johnson of Stephen F Austin and less Lache Seastrunk of Baylor.
