Cowboy's Fans "Annoyed" Romo Is Out
DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) - Some Dallas Cowboys fans say they were annoyed when they heard the news that quarterback Tony Romo had back surgery and won't play during Sunday night's winner-take-all game.
They're not annoyed with Romo, but the team.
That's because all week, the team said Romo was day-to-day and raised the possibility that he could still play.
The Cowboys wouldn't confirm a report by ESPN Monday that Romo was out for the season and that back-up Kyle Orton would have to play instead.
So some fans say that raised their hopes and expectations, which is why they weren't pleased to hear the news.
Mark Shaheen says, "I think they should have come out yesterday and said it. You don't have surgery and not know about it. It wasn't like an emergency surgery. So I'm sure they knew about it Thursday."
Clinton Pierce says, "I was a little upset when I heard on the radio. I was kind of geared up and looking forward to him playing on Sunday - you just don't wake up and decide to have surgery on Friday so I think the coaches knew all week what was going down. I think they were trying to keep Philadelphia on their toes."
Ricky Maldonado says, "I was a little surprised. I think they were overpaying just for the upcoming game, but once I heard he did have surgery, it kind of made sense."
Other fans say they weren't surprised at all by Romo's surgery and never expected him to play.
