ARLINGTON (CBSDFW.COM) -In North Texas nothing says thanksgiving like cooking a turkey in the parking lot.

Tailgaters showed up to AT&T Stadium bright and early Thursday for the annual Thanksgiving game.

What's more American than thanksgiving and football?

At AT&T Stadium, folding tables do the trick on turkey day. Shawn Griffith worked hard on her Thanksgiving spread. She's got everything she needs to have a perfect dinner.

"Turkey, honey cured hams. All the fixings, green bean casserole, " explained Griffith.

"We've done this a few years in a row now. It's thanksgiving. We get together with our neighbors we don't even know them but they're friends to us"

It was a losing battle for Jessica Castellanos who picked her cowboys family over her own bloodline but she made fast friends with other tailgaters.

"My family won't speak to me but my other family is here. My Cowboys family, we just met five minutes ago," joked Castellanos.

And the parking lot at AT&T Stadium is a reflection of the diverse meals that will be consumed at North Texas tables.

"We call it asado, pork meat with red chili. You fry the meat a little then throw chili in it," said Adrian Brito.

It was food so good fellow tailgaters didn't mind sharing with fellow Cowboy fans.

"It was delicious. I don't even know this guy. I just met him 5 minutes ago," said Castellanos.

They might be missing thanksgiving dinner at home, but these football fans say they're not missing out.
