Cowboys Face Grim Absence Of Secondary Stand Outs Church & Claiborne

ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) - Inside a Sunday night Cowboys locker room buoyed by hoarse-voiced celebration sat two stalls - one empty, one grim.
The 29-23 overtime win over the Eagles at AT&T Stadium was secured with a price to the now 6-1 Cowboys as secondary standouts Barry Church and Morris Claiborne may be dealing with serious injury concerns.
Church, The play-making safety and a team captain, exited the game at its midway point and likely has a fractured arm.
Claiborne, playing cornerback at a Pro Bowl level, sustained what was originally called a groin injury at end of the fourth quarter - but what the Cowboys fear might be a much more serious sports-hernia injury.
Claiborne spoke optimistically about what further testing on what Monday may show, and we will monitor that. Church did not spend much time at his locker stall as he holds out hope of a return.
The Cowboys have developed depth in the secondary with young vets JJ Wilcox and Jeff Heath, and maybe even more notably by rookie corner Anthony Brown.
They will be needed going forward to make the situation look less absent… And less grim.
