Cowboys' Dez Bryant Sued For Outstanding $246,000 Jewelry Bill
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - For the second time in two weeks, Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant has found himself the target of another accusation.
This time, a New York-based jeweler sued Bryant for an outstanding balance of $246,000.
The suit alleges that Bryant ordered a custom-made necklace with his jersey number "88" along with other diamond encrusted pendants and charms shortly after he turned pro last year.
The lawsuit contends Bryant has paid for just $20,000 of the jewelry. A woman who answered the door at Bryant's DeSoto home said he is out of town training for next season.
State Senator Royce West (D – Dallas) is serving as Bryant's lawyer, but he was unreachable for comment. An attorney for the jeweler also declined comment.
The jewelry lawsuit seeks not only the remainder of the bill, but also attorney fees and interest.
Earlier this month, Bryant was issued a criminal trespass warning from off-duty police officers at North Park Mall after the receiver and his friends allegedly caused a disturbance when they were asked to pull their pants up.
Though the mall initially banned Bryant for three months, a North Park spokesman issued a statement less than a week later welcoming Bryant back to its premises.
