Cowboys Can't Stop McCoy In Clutch

ARLINGTON (105.3 THE FAN) - The Dallas Cowboys did a lot of things right, but came up short in losing to the Eagles tonight 30-27.  When push came to shove, it was LeSean McCoy who got the best of the Cowboys run defense, which prompted Brad and Bade to lament the absence of Marcus Spears.

The reason?  The Cowboys put themselves in position to make a valiant comeback after Jason Witten's second touchdown of the night from 22 yards out with 3:55 remaining, but that is when McCoy could simply not be stopped.  A pass reception for 6 yards, followed by runs of 12, 19, 13 and finally a 3rd and 1 conversion which salted the game.  The Cowboys simply could not stop McCoy when it counted most.  McCoy finished with 149 yards rushing on 16 carries.  That was matched by DeSean Jackson's deadly 91 yard touchdown reception when Mike Jenkins went for the ball on an out route came up empty.  Jackson then weaved his way down the field for the touchdown, which was followed by a Jon Kitna interception by Dimitri Patterson that led to a David Akers field goal to put the Eagles up 10 after the Cowboys had battled back in the second half to take a 20-14 late in the third quarter.

Jackson finished the game with a mere 4 receptions....for a whopping 210 yards.  Wow.  Jackson and the Eagles did what they have done so many times before by sending a message early.  Michael Vick hit Jackson for 60 yards on the first play from scrimmage, which led to a Vick 1 yard touchdown run, but the Cowboys answered on their first drive with a Jason Witten touchdown reception from a yard out.

Jason Garrett..."We knew if would be a battle, but at the end they made too many plays to make the difference in the game."  The loss puts a .500 season out of reach for the Cowboys, who fell to 4-9.  The Eagles improve to 9-4 and look forward to a showdown with the Eagles next Sunday in New York.
