Cowboys Can Control Whether They Make Playoffs
IRVING (AP) - The Dallas Cowboys know they blew a chance to put a stranglehold on the NFC East.
Instead of a possible two-game division lead with three games left, the Cowboys are tied for with Giants. If the playoffs began this week, the Cowboys (7-6) would be left out because of their agonizing loss at home to New York on Sunday night.
But Dallas still has time to regain control.
While coach Jason Garrett prefers to keep his focus on the current day and upcoming opponent, that being Saturday night's game at Tampa Bay, he quickly offered some playoff perspective for his players this week.
Garrett reminded them that they win the division by winning their last three games, including a season finale rematch against the Giants (7-6).
