Cowboys 3, Raiders 0: History Wrapped In A Yawn
DALLAS (CBSDFW) - Three important things occurred on your way to joining the dog pile of catcalls about the Cowboys' uninspired 3-0 pre-season victory over the Raiders:
1. David Arkin didn't have a bad snap.
2. The Cowboys' field-goal defense is Super-Bowl caliber.
3. History was made.
I'll be honest, not a lot of highlights in Dallas' 2012 lid-lifter. 10 offensive possessions. 11 first downs. 12 penalties. And only one more tally than the Rangers managed in The Bronx. But, alas, if you're thoroughly bored by the game may I suggest you're watching for the wrong reasons.
The preseason is all about individual evaluation and nothing about team achievement. There is little or no predictive value in the outcomes of these games.
There is, however, a chance at history. And last night we witnessed a first: a 3-0 Cowboys' game.
That's right, since 1960 the Cowboys have played a combined 1,098 pre-season, regular-season and playoff games. And Monday night was the first one to end with a final score of 3-0.
So there's that.

1970 5-0 Lions W Playoff
1994 6-0 Oilers L Preseason
