Couple Travels Texas To Share Worst Day Of Their Lives

IRVING (CBS11) — For a time after the crash, Dennis Pennywell said he wasn't even able to say his son's name without breaking down.
"Just your breath leaves you," the Texas father said. "The emotions take over."
But now whenever they have a chance, Pennywell along with his wife, Kae, share the story about the speeding drunk driver who killed their 20-year-old son, Aaron, in 2011.
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among teenagers in Texas. According to the Texas Department of Transportation, 253 teenaged drivers and passengers died in motor vehicle crashes in 2014.
"We could talk about it to a psychiatrist, but I don't think it would do much good," Pennywell said.
On Saturday the Cypress couple told the story to a group of Irving teenagers at the AAA of Texas Teen Safe Driving Fair. They brought along the crumpled-up 2009 Mustang Aaron was driving when he was hit.
"I feel like if we talk about it to people that want to listen," Pennywell said, "then it does us as much good as it does them."
