DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A couple from North Texas has finally been reunited with their missing baby after the boy was switched at birth earlier this summer.

The couple, Richard Cushworth and Mercedes Casanalles, live on the Christ for the Nations Institute campus in Oak Cliff, but are in El Salvador. Casanellas is originally from the Central American nation and decided that's where she and her husband would welcome their new son into the world.

Randy Delp, the Dean of Students at the Christian bible college, shared some photos of the baby. He says Casanellas began to notice the features of her fair-skinned child, born on May 21, looked nothing like the child given back to her before returning to North Texas.

The couple ordered a DNA test here in the United States and it confirmed the child they had belonged to someone else. According to an El Salvadorian newspaper, the hospital began cooperating with investigators after first making claims that a baby swap was impossible.

Delp said the couple is thrilled to have their biological son. "They're so happy to have the baby back. But the other child, they do not have anymore... I don't know the particulars about that. They're saddened, because that's the child that they were raising."

Reports say Dr. Alejandro Guidos, the obstetrician-gynecologist who delivered Casanellas' son, has been arrested. But investigators still haven't said what if any motive he has for switching the baby boys. The couple has accused Dr. Guidos of trying to sell their biological child into trafficking.

Back in North Texas, friends say the couple relies heavily on their faith and have no doubt it will continue to help them stay strong during this ordeal.
