Could Cowboys Place Franchise Tag On Dez?
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Dez Bryant reiterated his desire to be a Cowboy for life on Sunday, even saying he's interested in reviving contract negotiations in season "if it's right."
The Pro Bowl receiver made a splash this week, firing agent Eugene Parker, opting to have CAA handle his contract negotiations. Jay-Z's Roc Nation sports management team will play a secondary role.
Cowboys Vice President Stephen Jones again expressed a desire to work out a deal with Bryant, saying the change in representation has little impact on negotiations.
"All we look at is the player and what we can do for that particular player in terms of our resources that we have," said Jones with the G-Bag Nation. "At the end of the day, we're going to spend every last penny we have trying to put a championship team together."

Bryant also made it abundantly clear Sunday that he'd be "highly disappointed" if the Cowboys chose to place the franchise tag on him.
Jones says the team would prefer to work out a long-term deal for their first round pick from 2010. However, the franchise tag exists for a reason.
"In Dez's case, we're going to do everything we can to put a fair contract out there for him," said Jones. "That tag is out there for a reason, and we certainly have it in our pocket to use. If for some reason we couldn't come to an agreement with him, then we'd certainly have to look at all our alternatives."
The team must also be cognizant of DeMarco Murray, who is set to become a free agency at the end of the season. Murray, whose streak of eight consecutive weeks of 100+ yards rushing came to an end on Sunday, has already established a career-high in rushing yards (1,133).
"What we have to do as ownership and management is decide the best way to divide up the pie. At the end of the day, everybody's going to get all the pie. It's not that we're deciding to not pay Tony, not pay Dez, not pay DeMarco so we can keep it. We've got to talk them into playing for the money that we feel like is fair so we can have other good football players."
