Coppell Residents Wake Up To Denton Creek In Their Yards

COPPELL (CBSDFW.COM) — Rain has died down in Texas -- and yet flooding continued early Saturday.
Hundreds of residents in Coppell woke up to see Denton Creek in their own front and back yards.
The "creek" swallowed one homeowner's swimming pool.
Some neighbors placed sandbags and tarps to blocade the rising waters.

The flooding stems from Tropical Storm Bill -- the tropical cyclone caused Lake Grapevine to overflow into the creek at a rapid rate.
According to the City of Coppell, residents have seen the worst already. Based on current conditions, officials expect no additional rise along Denton Creek.
Water in and around the neighborhoods, however, will take several days to recede.
Flooding also continued overnight along I-35 near the Texas-Oklahoma border.
The Red River -- which is currently 17 feet over flood stage -- touched the bottom of the bridge right outside Gainesville.
