Coppell Rallies Around Football Team To Honor Jacob Logan

FLOWER MOUND (CBSDFW.COM) - Friday night there is a sea of blue at Wilson Stadium in Flower Mound.  Nearly every where you look Jacob Logan's name was on a t-shirt or banner.

Coppell High school is taking on Flower Mound High.  Students packed the stands chanting, "Logan!  Logan!  Logan!"

Coppell students and a community are remembering a football star and friend.

They showed up with shirts that read "The Hybrid, The Legend, The Guardian Angel," and Logan's name and his jersey number 21.  His football team also wore the number on their helmets.

Naveed Taghdiri showed up with a banner, "It says 'Play 4 Jay number 21' and we did his favorite color Kentucky blue."

"We are going to cheer on for Jacob," says friend Cal Hernandez "We are gong to win for Jacob."

The 17-year-old Wide Receiver's body was found Thursday night at Possum Kingdom Lake.  He was last seen shortly after diving off a cliff.

"We all played baseball with him, he was one of our best friends.  It's been very hard but getting through with everyone else has really helped," says friend Tyler Jones.

Right before kick-off, Logan's sister wore his jersey and was part of the coin toss.  Then the stadium went silent so everyone could pay their respects and pray.  His team then ran through a banner which read, "10 more to go.  Do it for J-Lo."

"It's been a good journey and it's reassuring that he's in a better place watching over us right now," says Taghdiri.

Logan's friends say they are hoping to do a balloon release at their home game next Friday.
