Coppell Mayor's Finances Questioned

There's a memorial service today for Coppell Mayor Jayne Peters and her teenage daughter Corinne but it's not without controversy. Many see the joint-service as inappropriate because investigators have determined that Peters murdered her daughter and then committed suicide. Their bodies were found Tuesday night in their upscale home which, new information shows, had been listed for foreclosure twice in recent months. Investigators believe Jayne Peters had been facing financial hardships since her husband died two years ago without leaving life insurance. In fact, the city manager says there were repeated questions about the mayor's use of her city-issued credit card, to the point that the city attorney had been asked to open an investigation.

Meantime, there are some contradictions about the college plans of 19-year-old Corinne Peters who had told friends and classmates she was planning to attend U-T Austin in the Fall. But the university now says they have no record of any incoming freshman by that name. Before mentioning U-T, Corinnne had said she was enrolled at TCU. But administrators there also say they have no record of Corinne Peters being enrolled for the Fall semester.
