Coppell Football Back At Home For First Time Without Jacob Logan
COPPELL (CBSDFW.COM) - On a chilly Friday night football fans packed the stands at Buddy Echols Field in Coppell.
Students and the community were part of tribute to star football player Jacob Logan. It was Coppell High School's first home game after his death.
The school was taking on Marcus High from Flower Mound.
The 17-year-old Wide Receiver's body was found last week at Possum Kingdom Lake. He was last seen diving off a cliff.
Students say they are trying to stay strong for Jacob's sister Jordan. She goes to the same school as her older brother.
Jordan walked onto the field wearing his jersey and served as one of the captains, then she handed her brother's jersey to one of the players to wear during the game.
"She's been so strong through all of this," says student Kate Rohrbough "It's really incredible to see her come out and cheer on the crowd."
Students say they feel her pain and just want to be there for her during this hard time. "It's really sad because if I lost my brother I would be so sad and it just makes me realize how much I really love him and how much he's a great part of my life," says student Brooklyn Kristek.
On the scoreboard a video tribute showed Jordan interviewing Jacob after a win. In the stands students wore Jacob's favorite color t-shirt with his name and jersey number.
And seconds before kick off, his friends in the stands released blue powder representing Jacob into the night.
The students wanted to release balloons, but were told they couldn't because it's against UIL rules.
