Controversial Film Says A Particular Vaccine Is Linked To Autism

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – A controversial film claiming a particular vaccine has a direct link to autism is now playing in Dallas despite it being snubbed at one of the most prestigious film festivals.
"Vaxxed," is based on a whistle blower claim made from a former Center for Disease Control researcher named Dr. William Thompson.
Del Bigtree, a producer on the film said, "He has given us proof. He has handed us the data that CDC threw out."
Bigtree described the data as a cover up of the link between the measels, mumps, and rubela vaccine.
"Measles, mumps, rubela vaccine. When they looked at it and they did a study on it in 2004 they discovered it could be causally linked to autism," said Bigtree.
The film makers views were heavily criticized by many who say there isn't any proof of the link between the MMR vaccine and autism.
The film's director Andy Wakefield, who has previously been slammed for his views on the issue said corporations have lashed back at them for making those claims.
Wakefield said response from lawmakers has been different. "Much more positive response from lawmakers. What we want is the oversight committee to bring Thompson forward to get testimony from him and the other guilty parties. So that Americans can learn the truth," he said.
The film is playing at the Angelika theater in Dallas for the next week.
