AZLE (CBS11) - A gas station mistake could cost drivers thousands in Tarrant County.

The manager at the Shell gas station in Azle told CBS 11 the driver of the truck that fills their tanks accidentally put diesel in their gas pumps and gas in the diesel pumps.

James Prince filled up his truck at the Shell station on Monday November 9, 2015.

"It started acting sluggish," said Prince.

Prince had just put a new motor in his 2008 Ford F350.

"I took it back to the shop. It was filled with gasoline," said Prince.

Prince's truck runs on diesel.

"It just made me sick," said Prince.

Prince gave his information to an employee at the Shell station but he's still waiting on call back. He has to use a company truck in the meantime.

"I haven't heard anything. I want my truck back," said Prince.

Cindy Hammond, owner of America's Best Vacuum, has an 18-wheeled diesel truck in the shop with a tank of gasoline and a more than $2,000 repair bill.

Hammond is also anxious to get a resolution.

"I'm losing money because my biggest truck is tied up in the shop since last week," said Hammond.

The manager at the Shell station on FM 750 and SH 199 said their distributor, Douglas Distributing, made the error and is taking care of the problem.

"The insurance company is going to take care of the problems out there," said Richard Garcia of Garcia Tire and Automotive.

Garcia has had three customers come in with car trouble that he's traced back to Shell. He said the distributor's insurance company has been responsive.

"The lady on the other end said--take care of the customers, fix it. Let's get them on the road as soon as possible," said Garcia.

The manager at Shell said the drivers will have to provide proof they filled up with the gas at the station on or around November 8, 2015 to get the repairs covered.

Drivers can call (817) 444-4774 if they believed they filled up with the wrong gas at the Azle Shell station.
