Construction Could Cause July 4th Holiday Headaches

Allen police say the uptick in road construction zone accidents is alarming.  There have been more than 20 in the past six months.  One of the biggest problem areas is US 75 between Allen and McKinney.  One Allen police sergeant says one lane is lost while other lanes shift every few days.  Add in drivers who are on cell phones and she says there is a recipe for trouble.

Other problem areas are on Bethany Road and the State Highway 121-Ridgeview areas.

Also, the southbound U.S. 75 exit ramp to Ridgeview Drive will be closed through 1 p.m. Friday. The northbound ramp will be closed overnight from 10 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday. The closures are necessary to accommodate construction of the new Sam Rayburn Tollway/U.S. 75 interchange in Allen, Fairview and McKinney.

During the closures, drivers on southbound U.S. 75 who would like to exit at Ridgeview Drive will be rerouted to exit further south, at Stacy Road in Allen. Drivers on northbound U.S. 75 who would like to exit at Ridgeview will be re-routed to exit further north, at Eldorado Parkway in McKinney. The detour routes will be clearly marked with signs.
