Concerns About Proposed Grocery Store Expected To Fill City Council Meeting

KELLER (CBSDFW.COM) - There's a food fight of sorts taking place in one North Texas community. Kroger is looking to build a new store in Keller, but some residents say the proposed location is way too close for comfort.
Today those residents will have a chance to take their concerns to city hall.
Those concerned say there will be nothing but headaches if a Kroger Marketplace grocery store goes up near Keller Parkway and Rufe Snow Drive.
The proposed property, that includes a drive thru pharmacy and several fuel pumps, would take up more than 123,000 square feet.
Keller residents have been vocal about their opposition and support of the proposed store.
Residents within 200 feet of the proposed build wrote to the Keller Planning Manager and stated plainly, "The quality of life in this area will suffer greatly if this change is approved."
The group also noted specific concerns about bright lights, noise, and traffic congestion. The store might even sell alcohol and that's another issue for some residents, since the store would also be near Keller High School and a church.
But not everyone in the area is opposed to the new store. Another resident wrote an email saying she "can't wait" for the development to open.
Those for and against are expected to attend tonight's regular City Council meeting at 7:00 p.m., at Keller Town Hall located at 1100 Bear Creek Parkway.
