Composite Of "Mesh Mask" Bank Robber On Billboards
NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities now have a better idea of what the elusive, armed criminal dubbed the Mesh Mask Bandit looks like.
FBI agents have been searching for the bank robbery suspect for months. The man is believed to have robbed at least 17 North Texas banks, since December 31, 2012.
The most recent robbery happened just this week at a Capital One Bank location in Arlington. On Monday, April 29, the suspect walked into the bank with a gun drawn. He demanded, and was given, an undisclosed amount of money and made his getaway in a dark blue Dodge Caravan.
Someone did see the suspect before he pulled on the full coverage mask that earned him the nickname of the "Mesh Mask Bandit."
The bank robber is described as a Hispanic male with a dark complexion. He is believed to be between 37 and 43 years old. The man stands between 5'7" and 6'2", has a medium to large build, dark hair and dark eyes. It is possible the suspect has a mustache and goatee.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.
Agents think the robber may have sustained chemical burns during the April 29th robbery and could have red dye on his skin, clothing and on the driver's side of the van he was last seen in. Authorities say it's also possible the suspect suffered similar burns during a January 31 robbery at Capital One Bank in Dallas.
The 17 bank robberies have happened at locations all across North Texas. And the suspect has hit more than one bank branch in the cities of Dallas, Carrollton, Arlington and Grand Prairie.
There are nearly 100 digital billboards across North Texas are showing the new composite image of the suspect and getaway vehicle.
A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of the robber. Anyone with information is being asked to call the FBI at (972) 559-5000 or the North Texas Crime Stoppers tipline at 1-877-373-TIPS (8477).
