Company Markets New Weapon In Fight Against Mosquitoes

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - A North Texas-based company is now offering what it claims is a more effective weapon against mosquitoes.

Todd Mount is president of iScentU. He says the company has a new diffuser that burns and disperses natural mosquito repellant differently. "We invented a new wick… and what it does is it diffuses fragrance without using an open flame," Mount explained. "We've noticed that we were able to get that benefit [repelling mosquitoes] into the air, without it being burned up, because our wick doesn't have an open flame."

According to Mount the new iRepel lamps diffuse a number of oils more effectively. "We decided to try it with citronella, eucalyptus and lemongrass, which the EPA has recognized as being very effective against, for repelling mosquitoes."

Makers at the Irving-based company say it's the patented new wick disperses the oils into the air without destroying them.  Mount said, "You can actually smell the citronella and eucalyptus in the air, which is relatively a new experience. Most repellents…. all of he others you basically small black smoke."

Mount says all of the oils used in the iRepel lamps are natural and proven mosquito repellants.

The lamps and oils both start at $15 and the company will begin offering the new system next week.
