Company In A Pickle Over Racy Cucumber Ad
A chain of adult novelty stores says it will expand a controversial billboard campaign here in North Texas. The yellow billboard for Condoms To Go and Sara's Secret that has lead to some outrage is along I-35 in Lancaster, and features a giant cucumber and reads, "Stop Vegetable Abuse."
Gary Krupkin of Condoms To Go and Sara's Secret says in spite of the complaints, he does not think the ad is in bad taste. "I don't think that a child is really going to understand the subtle meaning of the cucumber," Krupkin said.
Krupkin likens the cucumber to the Gecko used in Geico ads. The company says they'll soon expand the cucumber campaign to more billboards across North Texas.
