Colorado Volunteers Find Texas Woman's Missing Ring

AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) - Volunteer searchers using metal detectors have recovered a Texas woman's engagement ring after she lost it at her husband's grave in Colorado.

The Colorado Springs Gazette reports Gayle Zompa of Galveston got her ring back last week.

It slipped off her finger four months ago as she was placing flowers on the grave of her husband, Edward, who is buried at the Air Force Academy outside Colorado Springs.

He graduated from the academy in 1961 and was an Air Force pilot for 25 years. He was buried at the academy cemetery 10 years ago.

The Pikes Peak Adventure Club volunteered to look for the 50-year-old ring with metal detectors. Member Richard Walker said he found it March 13 after searching for only 30 minutes.
