Collin County Robbery Suspect Becoming More Aggressive
MCKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - A McKinney woman says she was very frightened when a middle-aged man with a gun held her up inside the Subway Restaurant on Custer Road yesterday.
Police say the same man has robbed a number of people in McKinney and Frisco, including an elderly couple held up outside a U.S. Post office on Central Expressway. Detectives are concerned because they say the suspect is becoming more aggressive and threatening with his victims.
Police believe the same man also committed three other aggravated robberies. Details about the locations have not been released.
The Subway restaurant employee says the man was in the business for at least 15 minutes before the hold up. He told the victim, who does not want to be identified, that he was waiting for his wife. The employee says she repeatedly asked the man if he wanted to order food. The victim says the gunman came around the counter from the rear for the restaurant, pointed a gun at her, demanded cash and told her to hurry. She says he ordered she get in the store refrigerator and count to 10 before coming out. The victim says she followed the gunman's orders and then called police.
About three hours earlier, at 2 p.m. Thursday, an elderly couple was sitting inside their car outside the post office when they were held up at gunpoint. Police say the suspect did not get any money and fled in a gray van.
Police want the public's help in identifying the suspect. A store surveillance picture has been released.
He's described as a white man in his mid-fifties, about six feet tall, weighs about 250 pounds, and has gray or salt and pepper-colored hair.
