Colleyville Businessman Sentenced To 15 Months For Fraud
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Edward Gayowski, 58, of Colleyville has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison following his guilty plea to one count of wire fraud against his former employer.
According to a release by the Department of Justice, Gayowski entered the guilty plea in April 2012. U.S. District Judge Terry R. Means also ordered Gayowski to pay $70,845 in restitution and a $5,000 fine.
Plea documents indicate that, prior to 2007 and continuing through 2012, Gayowski fraudulently inflated expense reports in connection with business trips he took while employed as a salesman at Illinois Tool Works. The expense reports included receipts for airline travel, hotel and meal expenses, as well as car rental costs.
He also submitted reports with false travel receipts that never occurred and collected the cash repayment.
Additionally, Gayowski submitted fraudulent expense reports to the company for airline travel used by his family members.
The case was investigated by the FBI. The Judge has ordered that Gayowski surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on January 7, 2013.
