DALLAS (CBS 11 NEWS) – NCAA Championship weekend is taking shape.
We know Oregon and Ohio State will play next Monday for the first ever College Football Playoff Championship.
Until then, there will be plenty to entertain the thousands of fans who will be in North Texas waiting for the big game.
At Fan Central, in downtown Dallas, impressive "Texas-sized" statues are ready to greet Oregon and Ohio State fans. Players from both teams will be on hand Saturday morning for in-person meet and greets.
"We wanted everyone – all ages to really touch to be able to touch and feel this national championship," said Tommy Bain, chairman of the Stadium Events Organizing Committee.
Organizers promise this will be bigger than similar fan events held during the Super Bowl and Final Four.
"One of the things that we are excited about is that there is going to be one first and this is the very first national championship played in college with a bracket in the playoff and everyone can be a part of a very historic event," said Bain.
Live music will take center stage Friday night. Toby Keith is one of the performers. Through the weekend, fans can enjoy dozens of interactive games.
Doors to the Playoff Fan Central will open Friday afternoon, with ticket prices for adults at $17. Kids and veterans can get in for $12.
