Colby Lewis Feeling 'Zero Pain' From Hip Surgery, Hopes To Start

SURPRISE, Ariz. (105.3 THE FAN) -- Colby Lewis has a history of recovering from surgery. The Texas Rangers need him to repeat that feat in 2014.

The Rangers' 2012 opening day starter had hip resurfacing surgery last August, which is just short of a full hip replacement.

"I recovered really really nicely," said Lewis on 105.3 The Fan's New School with Shan & RJ. "Wash was excited to see me. He said it was really crazy to see how quickly I recovered."

The Rangers are looking to fill out their rotation, especially with veteran Derek Holland shelved likely until the All-Star break.

Texas signed Lewis to a minor league contract prior to the season, hoping the righty can regain his previous form.

He says that he has "zero pain" from the surgery -- which transformed his life -- and is not limited physically at all.

Even though he feels healthy as the team officially opens spring training, there's still a lot for the veteran to prove.

"I feel like if I am healthy,  then I feel like one of those spots should be mine. I still got to go out and be productive...I have to go out there and earn it."
