FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - We continue to march closer to the big September 8 premiere of "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" on CBS. Over the past few months, Colbert has launched his show's website, announced his bandleader, and debuted promos featuring Mitt Romney and puppies.
Now, thanks to a post on Twitter from Colbert himself, we know who will be the comedian's first guest.
George Clooney is set to be the first star to sit down with Colbert when his new show begins this fall. Clooney recently starred in box office bomb "Tomorrowland" back in May, and does not have another film scheduled this year. But as an active person in the political arena, Clooney will likely have much to discuss.
The announcement came just hours after Jon Stewart made his final appearance on Comedy Central's "The Daily Show," the place where many fans got their first look at Colbert before he moved onto his own cable show, "The Colbert Report." Stewart has been one of Colbert's biggest supporters over the years.
Colbert now takes over for David Letterman, who left behind "The Late Show" in May. Oddly enough, Clooney was also one of Letterman's final guests.
