Coffee Run Turns Into Attempted Murder, Ends With Suicide At Dallas Hospital
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - What started as a trip to Starbucks ended in the attempted murder of a woman and the suicide of her husband.
Garland Police say a 32-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, who are believed to be married, started arguing at the Starbucks on Arapaho and Shiloh Roads.
Then, police say, the man pulled out a handgun and began waiving it around at her and other people.
Police say they started received 911 calls about the disturbance around 7:20pm.
But before police arrived at the Starbucks, the man fired a shot at the woman inside their 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck. Then, he took off.
Police conducted a search of all the hospitals in the area and found them at Medical City Dallas Hospital.
Police Spokeman Joe Harn said, "At about 7:45 is when we're being told they arrived here at the hospital. She got out and went in to the hospital said she'd been shot. And about that time is when the man in the truck shot himself and took his own life. "
Office Harn said the hospital told him the woman is in guarded condition. He also said the couple lives in Garland and that police have answered domestic violence calls at the couple's address before.
