Clinton Patches Relations With Liberals At Campaign's Outset

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Hillary Rodham Clinton wants to be on the good side of liberals in her 2016 Democratic presidential campaign.
In 2008, she opposed gay marriage, equivocated on driver's licenses for people living in the U.S. illegally, and took heavy criticism from rival Barack Obama over her stance on campaign finance.
This time, she's retooled such positions to line up with the views of progressive Democrats.
The do-overs are part of an effort by Clinton to reassure the liberal wing of her party that this time she will be the change they've been waiting for.
But she's not closed the deal.
Though Clinton enters the race in a dominant position, she faces skepticism from some who question her commitment to tackling income inequality _ an issue they believe should drive the campaign.
