Clerk Shot & Killed At Small Convenience Store

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - One person has been killed at a convenience store in Fort Worth and police are looking for clues in the case.

The shooting happened at a small convenience store that sits tucked between Interstate-35W on the east and Amtrak railroad tracks on the west.

Apparently someone went inside the Village Food Store and shot the male clerk in the head.

Fort Worth police were at the scene quickly but couldn't immediately process the scene.

"We've been told it's a GSW to the head, a gunshot wound to the head, but we cannot confirm that yet because we have not messed with the crime scene," explained police spokeswoman Sharron Neal.

While police waited for the proper clearance to process the crime scene several officers were outside going through a trash dumpster, possibly looking for a weapon.

Police are still investigating the shooting and hope there are people who can help.

"There were witnesses that were coming into the store, to make some purchases, and they discovered him [the clerk] and they called 911," Neal said.

The name of the shooting victim has not been released.
