Cleanup Continues In Grayson County After Tornadoes Hit

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The national weather service has confirmed at least three tornadoes touched down in Grayson County during Tuesday nights storms.
Mark Fox with the national weather service said crews are surveying the damage and trying to determine just how many tornadoes hit the area. "In Howe we are seeing quite a lot of roof damage, large trees that have been uprooted or had some of the large branches torn off. And we do have three or four houses that have lost a significant part of the roof," said Fox.
An EF-1 hit near Howe, another EF-1 was confirmed in Whiteboro and a EF-0 struck near Bells, according to Fox. "Really it's concentrated to about a 4 or 5 block area, half a mile to three quarters of a mile. And it's really a lot of tree and house damage. We did have some video of the storm crossing the freeway into the Howe area," he said.
Clarissa Doty lives in Howe and recalled the moments before the strong winds slammed into her home. "Our ears popped and it felt like someone was sitting on our chest. So we went to the bathroom and heard the extremely loud noise and pressure and then just like that it was done," she said.
Doty is a district official as well and said Howe High School will need major repairs. "Air conditioning units were blown out of the building, leaving large holes. Lots and lots of water damage. And the light poles have been snapped off," said Doty, whose family camper is upside down in their yard.
