City of Plano Closer To Selecting Next Fire Chief
Plano (CBSDFW.COM) – The City of Plano has narrowed the list to three candidates in the search for its next fire chief. Since former chief Hugo Esparza retired in July, the city considered 43 qualified applicants from 18 different states.
Among the finalists:
• Brian Crawford, who is the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer in Shreveport Louisiana. He is second in command on the city's executive management team. He has served with the department for 28 years, working his way up from a firefighter to fire chief to his current position.
• Robert Isbell is currently Fire Chief of Midland, Texas, He has also held Fire Chief positions in Southlake and Euless, Texas. His 27-year career began in Mansfield as a firefighter paramedic.
• Dennis Rubin, who has served as Fire Chief in Washington D.C, Atlanta, Ga., Norfolk, Va. and Dothan, Ala. He is currently senior consultant for Rubin & Associates, which provides training and development for fire rescue agencies.
Plano city leaders will interview the finalists by the end of October.
