Chinese ATV Maker Moves Headquarters To McKinney

MCKINNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - A China-based all-terrain vehicle and utility-terrain vehicle maker and manufacturer is moving its North American Headquarters to McKinney this summer.

Hisun has operated in Carrollton since 2006, with a service center and parts warehouse. In 2010, it added a final assembly line to it's operation.

Now the company wants to expand.

The new Hisun USA facility will be located at 310 E. University in McKinney, at the building that used to house Emerson Process Management Regulator Technologies.

It will provide 163,502 square feet of room for expansion.

The company currently has 40 employees, but plans to add 60-80 more jobs.

For the city of McKinney it is a step in bringing many more global companies and corporate headquarters as the city looks to create more economic development.

"We are very aggressive with companies and we are right at the heart of the growth pattern," said Jim Weheimer, President and CEO of McKinney Economic Development Corporation.

McKinney has tripled its population to more than 150,000 over the past dozen years and city leaders are looking to create a self-sustaining economy within the city.

Currently, Hisan is sixth largest provider of utility-terrain vehicles in the U.S. and Canada but it looking to be one of the Top 3 within the next 5 years.

The company plans to move close its Carrollton operation and move to McKinney at the end of summer 2014.
