DENTON (CBS11) - A glimmer of hope for a family facing a nightmare.

The parents of a 4-year-old boy say he continues to cling to life after a car wreck killed his two siblings.

Carlito De Luna is fighting hard to stay alive.

That's what his father Edgar says after receiving news that his son's eyes responded to light.

"The doctor said that was a very good sign," says De Luna, "I have a lot of faith and a lot of hope that everything is going to be okay."

Carlito survived the crash on Highway 380 in Denton on Saturday that killed his 12-year-old sister Lesly and 8-year-old brother Edgar.

Their father says all he remembers was his daughters screams.

"I heard my daughter saying that her arms were hurting and she needed his help," says De Luna

Denton Police are considering charges against the driver who rear ended the De Luna's vehicle at a stop light.

Police say it doesn't appear the children were buckled up and De Luna admits they may not have been.

"At this point I really don't remember if they did or if they didn't have seat belts," says De Luna.

De Luna says he was allowed to spend the entire night after the crash cradling his oldest son's lifeless body He now faces the fear of removing life support from Carlito but believes his prayers will be answered.

"A lot of prayers, a lot of prayers," says De Luna.

De Luna says he hasn't yet thought about the man responsible for the crash.

A fund has been set up for the family to help pay for their kid's funeral expenses.  Anyone wanting to donate can do so here.
