Chemical Smell Causes Evacuations At Fort Worth School
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Students were temporarily evacuated from a school in Fort Worth after a strong chemical smell wafted through the building.
It was close to the lunch hour when the Fort Worth Fire Department and ambulances were called to the Young Women's Leadership Academy on 8th Street, near Sundance Square.
MedStar workers treated more than 20 people at the scene. Four patients, two adults and two children, were taken to a local hospital as a precaution.
Students were off campus for about half-an-hour and were allowed back in the building after the fire department gave the all clear.
A hazardous materials team was called to the scene, but officials haven't said exactly what caused the smell.
