Cheerleader Kicked Off Squad, Mom Cries Double Standard

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) – The mother of a North Crowley High School cheerleader kicked off the squad for making out with a football player says the district has a double standard.
She's disgusted by how the district protects its football players. "If you are a football player you get extra perks," says the mom "…and get extra privileges."
The mom didn't want to share her name, because she says she's worried about retaliation against her daughter. She tells CBS 11 that in June her daughter who was a cheerleader at North Crowley High School was caught making out with a football player in the gym.
"The football player is allowed to play football and my daughter got kicked off the varsity cheer squad and I think that's totally unfair," says the mom, whose daughter now attends an alternative school.
Crowley ISD wouldn't tell CBS 11 what the football players punishment was, but spokesperson Anthony Kirchner with Crowley ISD says both students received equal punishment.
The mom says that's not the case because the football player is back on the field.
"It was the same offense both of them were wrong I'm not saying that they were right but if you are going to punish one more severely than the other my question is why?" says the mom "I don't condone that type behavior. I know that what she did was wrong."
Kirchner with Crowley ISD says "The parents account to CBS 11 of this incident is not true and leaves out important details, but CISD legally cannot go into further detail regarding the specifics of this incident without her permission."
The statement goes on to say that "Crowley ISD has policies in place for handling student discipline and the delivery of consequences for prohibited conduct, but we legally cannot comment on specific student discipline incidents."
Kirchner says district officials have been working with the parent to "hear and respond to her concerns since June through the official grievance process. But in September, she asked to delay her grievance hearing with the CISD School Board and the District accommodated her request. Then last week, less than 48 hours before her rescheduled grievance hearing was scheduled to take place with the CISD School Board, she dropped her grievance without any explanation."
The mom says she doesn't trust the district and the truth is on the field every Friday night.
"I just got so disgusted because the football player was playing football and going on with his life," says the mom.
