CBS I-Team Uncovers New Details About Murdered District Attorney
KAUFMAN COUNTY (CBS 11 NEWS) - Three weeks have passed and still no arrests in the murder investigation of Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse.
While the investigation continues, the CBS 11 I-Team has uncovered new information about Hasse's personal life that law enforcement officials seem to be using. By no means is anyone calling the information a motive. But sources confirm agencies involved in the Hasse case are considering his financial past another important piece to this puzzle.
21 days after Mark Hasse's murder, with no arrests on the horizon, investigators are looking at everything as a possible lead. That includes information the I-Team found on the state comptroller's website that shows Hasse owned an airplane parts company that was in bad standings with the state because franchise taxes hadn't been paid.
We also uncovered Hasse was sued several times. In 2009, the Rockwall school district filed a lawsuit against him for not paying $5,973 in taxes. That same year a collection agency went after him for $8,922 in credit card debt. Records show there were several unsuccessful attempts by law enforcement to serve the lawsuit on Hasse. The case was eventually dismissed. But one lawyer in town tells us Hasse's money troubles weren't a secret to close friends.
The CBS 11 I-Team also found out the sheriff's department has records showing there were multiple calls out to Hasse's house prior to his death. But they wouldn't tell us what those calls were for because of the on-going investigation.
