Maybe you've seen TrailerCakes food truck, Bubbles, at Klyde Warren Park or around Dallas with other food trucks.  For most restaurants, the food truck craze has taken their menu out of their locations and made it mobile to people.  But for two best friends, opening a food truck is how they launched their business and they're story is as sweet at the deal.

Three years ago, before the food truck craze hit DFW, Heather and Leora decided to start TrailerCakes.  "We both had major career and I had three kids.  I called Heather and said hey you want to open up a cupcake trailer?"

They bought an old Airstream on Ebay, fixed it up and called it Bubbles.

"Everyone told us it wasn't going to work so we fought the odds of money and heartache and fights and everything and we did bring bubbles to life it's kind of like a child."

Then they created their cupcake concept which is all about nostalgia.  Everything is designed to remind them of their childhood.  With cupcake names like a NutterButter in peanut butter and jelly cupcake or Poptarts in a strawberry cupcake.   But selling their cupcakes out of a trailer had many challenges as Heather found out.  "We were trying to get our permits and we couldn't really get it no matter what and we did everything wrong.  You're not supposed to take food down there we took like 85 thousand cupcakes."

They started selling their cupcakes out of the basement of an office building and using the trailer for events.  Until August of 2011 when they were a part of the first food truck rally in Dallas.  "We were at the first food truck rally at Siegel's in August.  It was 108 degrees , no air conditioning in a silver aluminum Airstream.

Today, TrailerCakes has a location.

"It's like everything about us is being nostalgic and being who we are and what reminds us of our childhood.  We don't ever want to forget we were born in the basement."

Here's the deal for CBS 11 viewers, 15% off anything you purchase!
